Press Statement from the office of The National Head of Mobilization(COPDEM) And DG of NNPO, Hon. Amb. Kingland Justin

‎As the National Head of Mobilization of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) and the Director General of NNPO, I had the honor of accompanying His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, during his recent engagements in Anambra State, including a show of solidarity to Mrs. Justina Azuka of ADC, who is vying for the Anambra State House of Assembly in continuation of her late husband’s remaining 13 months, and a condolence visit to the Anambra State APGA Women’s Leader over the tragic loss of her only son, Mr. Martins Onyekesi (Fish Magnet).

‎This moment calls for clarity. It is important to understand that Mr. Peter Obi is running for President of Nigeria and must, as a matter of political and strategic responsibility, support ADC at the Senate level and the Labour Party at the gubernatorial level. This is not about favoritism, sentiment, or bitterness, it is about coalition building for national transformation.

‎Some may ask why he supports Amangbo Don Chidi for Senate (Anambra South). The answer is simple, Labour Party is not even on the ballot for the coming Senate election in Anambra South. The election is just days away, while the gubernatorial election is three months ahead. As part of the ADC coalition, it would be politically unwise and morally wrong for Mr. Peter Obi to abandon the coalition candidate at such a critical moment.

‎Similarly, those questioning his support for Mrs. Justina Azuka should remember that her late husband, Justice Azuka, was a very loyal Labour Party member. She joined ADC solely to complete her husband’s remaining 13 months in office, a constitutional and democratic right that deserves respect.

‎To those who are quick to judge or react out of political sentiment, I urge you, open your minds and look at the future for what it is. We are not here to play divisive politics; we are here to unite progressive forces to make Nigeria work again. Mr. Peter Obi’s leadership is about justice, uprightness, and transformation, not petty rivalry or desperate positioning.

‎Mr. Obi remains committed to building a Nigeria that works for all, and COPDEM stands firmly behind his vision. We reaffirm our endorsement of Amangbo Don Chidi for Senate, Anambra South, and salute Mr. Peter Obi’s affirmation of Mr. George Muoghalu for the governorship race ahead. These moves are strategic, principled, and necessary for the greater good of Nigeria’s democracy.

‎ Signed ,
‎Hon. Amb. Justin Kingland
