Rev Fr Alia: You didn’t block Peter Obi. You blocked hope, help, financial and emotional support meant for the humanity

The recent incident in Benue State where Governor Hyacinth Alia reportedly stopped Mr. Peter Obi from visiting hospitals and IDP camps is not just sad, it’s disheartening. In a time when leadership should rise above political lines to show compassion and solidarity, we are witnessing the opposite.

On the 13th of April 2025, Peter Obi set out to visit the forgotten citizens of Nigeria in IDP camps and nursing schools in Benue State. This wasn’t about politics—it was about humanity. Obi has a long history of quietly doing good, even before stepping into politics.

But shockingly, the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, blocked his entry. Yes, a man who once stood on the altar preaching love and compassion, now used political power to shut the doors of kindness.

Is this the same Rev. Fr. Alia who once preached about helping the poor and showing mercy? How do you stand before God and justify denying suffering citizens a visit that could’ve brought hope, support, and aid? The IDPs are not campaign grounds, they’re people abandoned by the system, struggling to survive each day.

Governor Alia, you didn’t just block Peter Obi. You blocked the food, the relief, the financial support, and the empathy and the emotional comfort that would have reached the hands of those who need it most. You blocked God’s blessing from reaching His people.

If truly you are still a man of God, then your conscience should judge you. You owe the people, especially those in the IDP camps and that nursing schools an apology. Not for politics, but for humanity.
