One of the Big 6 Support Groups, NNPO , has issued a fresh statement that, the recent statement by the Independent Media and Policy Initiative (IMPI), amplified by Bayo Onanuga, attacking Peter Obi’s economic views, is yet another desperate attempt to distract Nigerians from the glaring failures of the Tinubu administration. For a government that has failed woefully to deliver anything good for her citizens for 2 years in office, these attempts to clothes Tinubu’s flaws and attack Peter Obi are not only petty—they’re pathetic.
According to the group chat, NNPO , strongly condemned the continual censure on His Excellency Peter Obi, by Bayo Onanuga.
For clarity sake: Mr. Peter Obi simply shares his ideas on how to make this country work, based on proven results and a clear vision. If this government had a fraction of that vision, Nigeria would not be in the mess it is today.
The IMPI accuses Obi of having a “pedestrian understanding” of the economy. But what’s more pedestrian than removing fuel subsidies overnight without having a proper plan towards that, to avoid affecting the economy of the country? What’s more hollow than floating the naira without a plan to boost exports or stabilize inflation?
Tinubu’s economic decisions have directly led to increased suffering: food inflation at record highs, a crashing naira, massive job losses, and skyrocketing poverty. Yet, while Nigerians can’t afford to eat, get a good job, killings in the broad daylight, the only reasonable thing Tinubu in his 2 years can offer is busy spending billions on presidential villa, yachts, presidential jet and everyday appointments. Tinubu is never productive in any ramifications
They talk about record FAAC allocations and trade volumes, but those numbers are meaningless when ordinary Nigerians can’t feel the impact. What’s the point of revenue growth when it is being misused on luxury and political capture, instead of education, healthcare, and job creation?
Instead of solving national issues, Tinubu is busy interfering in state politics, trying to capture more states for his party while democracy suffers, people can’t even vote with confidence again in Nigeria. Is this the “surgical incision” IMPI talks about—or is it political greed and electoral manipulation?
Peter Obi’s call for injecting funds into productivity is not a “silver bullet,” as they sarcastically claim—it is a sound economic principle used by many progressive nations. Investing in small and medium enterprises, agriculture, manufacturing, and tech is how you grow jobs, reduce poverty, and build sustainable growth. If Tinubu had done that from day one, Nigeria wouldn’t be gasping for breath.
Bayo Onanuga and his camp need to stop obsessing over Peter Obi and start facing reality. Nigerians are tired of propaganda and excuses. We want leadership, not blame games. If this administration cannot fix the economy, it should own its failure instead of constantly attacking the man offering solutions.
Obi is not Nigeria’s problem.
