Speaking this morning on Odenigbo 99.1 FM during the radio programme Straight Talk, Comrade C.C. Emereonwu stated that any aspirant still remaining in African Democratic Congress after the 10th of May 2026, without decamping to another political party, may be taking a serious risk ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to him, the realities of the new Electoral Act and the timeframe for party primaries demand urgent political decisions from serious contenders.

He explained that every serious aspirant must understand that elections are guided by timelines, regulations, and party structures. Waiting too long in a party faced with internal uncertainty or strategic weakness could affect one’s chances of participating fully in the primary process. He emphasized that politics requires both timing and smart calculation.

Comrade Emereonwu further noted that any aspirant who delays beyond May 10 without making a clear political move may be seen as unserious by supporters and political observers. He argued that by this stage, committed aspirants should already know their direction, political platform, and strategy for the coming contests.

He warned that party primaries are critical stages in the electoral journey, as they determine who eventually appears on the ballot. Missing deadlines, failing to secure a viable platform, or remaining inactive politically could automatically end an aspirant’s ambition before the main election begins.

Speaking candidly on the programme, he said many politicians make the mistake of waiting until it is too late before taking decisive action. According to him, leadership positions are not won by hesitation, but by preparation, courage, and strategic movement at the right time.

He concluded by advising all aspirants with genuine interest in the 2027 elections to study the political landscape carefully and act with wisdom. He maintained that those who fail to reposition themselves before crucial deadlines may not only lose relevance, but may also fail to make the final ballot in 2027.
