Nigeria Will Be OK
The “OK” Movement (“Nigeria Will Be OK”) is the newly launched nationwide campaign and coalition supporting Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso for a joint ticket in the 2027 Nigerian presidential election.
Officially gaining traction with the kickoff of the 2027 election campaign cycle on August 19, 2026, the movement blends Peter Obi’s long-standing platform, “A New Nigeria is Possible”, with a fresh push to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) machinery.
Core Pillars of the “OK” Movement
Representing the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), the movement focuses on systemic state reform:
Production over Consumption: Transitioning Nigeria’s economic dependency from costly imports to manufacturing and domestic production.
Social Insurance: Moving away from short-term cash handouts to institutionalized healthcare, targeting a 10% minimum GDP healthcare investment.
Security & Rule of Law: Prioritizing transparent governance and addressing multi-regional insecurity.
Infrastructure Goals: Pledging to generate over 10,000MW of new power within four years.
The 2027 Political Landscape
The Opposition Coalition: The movement merges the strong grassroots networks of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to bridge regional voter bases and challenge the status quo.
The Ruling Party Machinery: The APC is actively countering with its own grassroots “City Boy Movement,” aligned with President Bola Tinubu, focusing heavily on continuity and localized empowerment programs.
Obi’s Final Stance: Obi has stated that the 2027 race will likely be his final presidential bid, framing it as a vital rescue mission to set up future generations of younger leaders.
