Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, following the brutal attacks on residents of Bokkos Local Government Area by suspected armed herdsmen.
The tragic incident, which occurred recently, left scores of innocent citizens dead and properties destroyed, further highlighting the persistent security challenges facing the country.
Despite the political tensions and his controversial loss of presidential mandate during the 2023 elections, Obi continues to demonstrate compassion and leadership. In a show of solidarity, he traveled to Plateau State using his private resources and time, underscoring his commitment to the people and his campaign promise to stand by Nigerians in times of need.
During his visit, Obi met with Governor Mutfwang to express deep condolences on the devastating loss and extended his sympathies to the grieving families in Bokkos. He also addressed students at the University of Jos, urging them to remain hopeful and believe in a new, better Nigeria.
Speaking during the visit, Obi emphasized that insecurity remains one of Nigeria’s greatest challenges and urged the citizens to remain steadfast, strive and hope for compassionate and responsive government, one that listens to the cries of its citizens.
If Nigeria had five more leaders with this level of empathy, vision, and selflessness, our country would be a far better place.”
Peter Obi’s visit once again demonstrates his unwavering belief in a prosperous Nigeria, built on justice, compassion, and effective leadership.
