THE DESPERATE VP NARRATIVE: A Failed Attempt to Distract a New Nigeria. Peter Obi’s Race, a Journey to Rescue a Failing Nation
By Hon. Amb. Kingland Justin
Some clueless actors on social media have been circulating a baseless and laughable narrative suggesting that Peter Obi is positioning himself to become VP to Atiku Abubakar in 2027 presidential race. A claim that is not only absurd but ridiculous.
For clarity sake, this narrative is false, desperate, and deliberately designed to distract Nigerians from the growing momentum of a people-driven movement.
Peter Obi has never discussed anything concerning running mate with anyone and such is not in any book. His words, actions, engagements, and national tours all point in one direction which is rebuilding Nigeria through competence, character, and a people-first leadership model.
Peter Obi received an official tally of 6,101,533 votes in the 2023 election according to INEC’s figures. But every honest Nigerian knows the deeper truth of that election.
It is not difficult to understand why certain political interests are suddenly shouting VP up and down when nobody asked them, trying to pull down glory that’s overpowering them.
His Excellency Mr Peter Obi inspired the historic surge in voter registration. Over 9.5 million new voters joined the register because of the movement he ignited. Mr. Peter Obi changed Nigeria’s political culture and empowered millions of young people to believe in a better country.
And here they are pushing VP’s narrative.
To whom? For what purpose? This is a movement that has refused to die. A leader that continues to gain credibility. A base that grows stronger despite weak intimidation. A vision that resonates from the streets to the diaspora.
PURPOSE AND DESPERATION
You can’t downgrade the political value of a man who has become the symbol of hope and credible leadership in Nigeria.
Peter Obi should be appreciated, and commended for he has shifted Nigerian politics and campaign strategies by focusing on issue-based discussions, which moved away from traditional money-based politics and personality cults. His campaigns emphasized policy and governance rather than personal charisma, resonating particularly with younger voters and those disillusioned with the political establishment. Peter Obi has built a strong movement and garnered significant support through a focus on his policy positions and a critique of the status quo.
Mr. Peter Obi engages Nigerians at home and abroad. Promotes development conversations. Advocates accountability. Inspires a new political culture and builds a movement powered by ordinary citizens. His entire journey is driven by purpose, sacrifice, and national rebuilding.
Atiku Abubakar, at this stage, Nigerians have watched a long cycle of repeated attempts to occupy Aso Rock, from structure to structure, platform to platform.
Everyone has the right to aspire, but the honest truth is that this not about rescuing Nigeria, but rescuing a personal ambition. Nigerians actually knows.
Peter Obi is not preparing for any Vice President or even negotiating such with anyone.
Peter Obi is not retreating from the movement he inspired. Anyone manufacturing such a narrative is simply engaging in political panic.
MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS
2027 is not about old politicians rearranging themselves. It is not about alliances of convenience.
It is about who has the character, competence, courage, and credibility to lead Nigeria out of the current mess.
Peter Obi represents that possibility and not as a VP to an old system,
But as a leader of a new direction.
A New Nigeria is POssible
