NNPO Condemns Politically Motivated demolition of Peter Obi’s Brother’s Property in Lagos calls Out Tinubu’s Government for Weaponizing State Powers Against Opponents

The New Nigeria is POssible (NNPO) expresses deep outrage over the unlawful and politically orchestrated demolition of a legally owned and registered company belonging to the younger brother of Mr. Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

According to credible reports and legal clarifications from Obi’s counsel, the property located in Ikeja, Lagos, was pulled down without any clear court order or official notice, a gross violation of property rights and a direct assault on due process. This act, masked as enforcement, is nothing short of a politically motivated attack, with clear indications that the demolition was orchestrated by loyalists and proxies of the Tinubu-led administration.

LET IT BE CLEAR: no group of individuals can invade and demolish a documented, legally registered property without the knowledge or involvement of the government. The denial by Lagos authorities does not exonerate the state from complicity, it only confirms a disturbing pattern of impunity where state machinery is subtly used to target perceived political enemies.

We at NNPO view this act as a calculated move to intimidate, harass, and weaken opposition voices, especially Mr. Peter Obi, who remains the leading symbol of hope, transparency, and good governance in today’s Nigeria.

It is a shameful reflection of President Tinubu’s government that at a time when Nigeria is battling unemployment, economic hardship, and a dearth of foreign investment, his loyalists are using state-sanctioned demolition as a political weapon. This shows a lack of understanding of governance, the rule of law, and the economic value of investment.

A president who cannot protect the rights of his citizens, who turns a blind eye while investors, foreign or local are treated as disposable tools of propaganda and political vendetta, is not fit to lead a nation longing for justice, unity, and development.

We call on all well-meaning Nigerians, human rights advocates, and the international community to speak out against this rising wave of authoritarianism disguised as governance.

Enough is enough. Nigeria deserves better.
