Peter Obi: The Voice of Lost Hope and the Beacon of a New Nigeria

The news about Atiku camp offer to our Apex Leader as reported by Punch has been in circulation, and for clarity sake, whether it is true or false, NNPO has issued a statement and here is our position.
‎‎NNPO’s POSITION
‎‎The New Nigeria is POssible (NNPO) movement, wishes to respond to recent reports regarding a proposed coalition ahead of the 2027 general election, specifically on the offer by the camp of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for His Excellency Peter Obi to serve as a vice-presidential candidate as reported by Punch.
‎‎NNPO urges Alhaji Atiku to take the back seat in the interest of national unity, generational equity, and the future of Nigeria. The former Vice President has contested presidential elections for nearly two decades. At this point, one may wonder if there is something he left behind in Aso Rock that he is so desperately seeking. His repeated ambitions have not only fatigued the Nigerian electorate but have also proven counterproductive to the progress of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

‎It is important to recall that the events of 2022 clearly showed that if Alhaji Atiku had supported Peter Obi’s presidential ambition, the PDP would likely have secured victory in the 2023 elections. However, blinded by personal ambition and desperation, he chose otherwise, and since Obi’s departure from the PDP, the party has struggled to recover its footing.

‎Peter Obi is deeply aware of the weight of his mandate and the passionate supporters behind him. Accepting a vice-presidential role under any coalition will not only undermine the will of his followers but could destabilize the unity and momentum of the movement he represents.

‎As clearly articulated in the book “Dreams and Struggles: Living Nigeria Revival” by the Director-General and Convener of NNPO, Hon. Amb. Justin Kingland, in 2013, it was prophesied that Peter Obi would leave APGA to pursue the presidency, which came to pass in 2014. The book also predicted that Labour Party is not a final destination for Obi and that accepting the VP role under Atiku in 2019 would lead to failure, which history validated.

‎The path to Nigeria’s rebirth must be paved with sincerity, sacrifice, and a genuine commitment to generational shift. Any coalition that positions Peter Obi as a vice to any candidate is not only unacceptable but void and noid in the eyes of millions of well-meaning Nigerians.

‎Let it be known: any coalition must have Peter Obi as the presidential candidate. Anything short of this is dead on arrival. If Alhaji Atiku truly believes in the progress of Nigeria, he must step aside and throw his full weight behind Peter Obi’s candidacy.
‎‎The time for recycled leadership is over. The time for genuine change is now.
‎‎A New Nigeria is POssible

‎Signed,
‎‎Hon. Amb. Justin Kingland
‎DG/ Convener of NNPO
