STRATEGIC MOBILIZATION TOUR REPORT ACROSS WEST AFRICAN DIASPORA
STRATEGIC MOBILIZATION TOUR REPORT ACROSS WEST AFRICAN DIASPORA
I arrived in Ghana and had a very engaging meeting with the NNPO executives in Ghana. From there, I proceeded to Lome Togo, and also met with the NNPO executives, I had a fruitful meeting with the Nigerian Welfare Association executives.
Yesterday, being Sunday, I met with the NNPO West African executives and some Nigerians living in Togo. On Wednesday, I will be heading to Côte d’Ivoire, Abidjan, in preparation for a major gathering of all Nigerians and NNPO members across the West Coast. This event, which also includes traditional chieftaincy elements, is focused on strategic mobilization and critical planning ahead of 2027.
The aim is to draw everyone together and reignite the vision of a New Nigeria. One of the most important observations is that people in the diaspora are very aware of the situation in Nigeria, and many are unhappy with the current Tinubu-led administration. There’s a strong hunger and thirst for change, and everyone believes that a New Nigeria is possible with Peter Obi.
Nothing gives me more joy than seeing Nigerians in the diaspora aligning with our vision for 2027. Everyone is ready and willing to play their part. This transformational movement across West Africa was inspired by data and feedback gathered from NNPO West Africa, which revealed that 75% of our diaspora members returned home to vote in 2023. That level of patriotic commitment made it necessary to embark on this tour.
Since many of them returned home in 2023, some felt disoriented and worried due to the state of the country, which has remained stagnant. My presence as the DG of NNPO, the Head of Mobilization for COPDEM, the Head of Grassroots outreach for ADC – Directorate for the Mobilisation of Civil Society and Progressive Organisations, and the PRO/National Spokesman of the Directorate of Mobilization for the Obidient Movement brought them hope. They were very excited to see me again, reconnect with the movement, and many have pledged to do everything possible to ensure that 2027 becomes a success.
Some of them even said that once Peter Obi becomes President, they would consider returning to Nigeria permanently. Out of joy and eagerness, they pleaded with me to pass a message to our Apex Leader, Peter Obi, asking him to choose any West African country, be it Ghana, Abidjan, or any other for a special gathering where he can address all Nigerians in the West Coast, not just NNPO members. I intend to present this proposal to him because I believe it will further boost morale and strengthen commitment toward actualizing the New Nigeria.
This tour is not just for NNPO. As the Spokesperson of the Directorate of Mobilization of the Obidient Movement, I also took the opportunity to inform everyone about the ongoing registration process. I shared the registration link, and many have already started registering.
More so,as the Head of Mobilization for COPDEM, I also updated them on the merging between NNPO and COPDEM, the massive outreach going on in the COPDEM, all thanks to Mr. Daniel Elomba, the BOT members, the National Coordinator Dr. Rampam Jr., the entire team, and I emphasized that we are all one family. And as the Head Grassroot Outreach for ADC, I enlightened them about the alliance between COPDEM and ADC, and the ongoing coalition talks. It was important to carry them along so they’re fully aware of the bigger picture.
Additionally, I acknowledged and informed them of the great work our National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, is doing, as well as the commendable efforts of the Director of Directorate of Mobilization, Morris Monye. They were all happy to receive this information and felt more connected and motivated.
We also discussed reactivating the WhatsApp groups in various West African countries. Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea Conakry are currently active, but we need to bring back the groups for Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, and others.
I sincerely thanked all those who have been working tirelessly to keep this movement alive and strong across the West Coast. I won’t forget to mention some names like, High Chief Charles Anietu, Coordinator NNPO Cote D’ivoire, Hon. C.C Okonkwo, NNPO West Coast Coordinator, Chief Chigbo Okafor and many others. After the Côte d’Ivoire gathering on Friday, I will return to Ghana to round off the tour before heading back to Nigeria.
A New Nigeria is POssible
