A delegation of political allies loyal to Peter Obi on Monday visited the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Abuja as part of activities surrounding the reported pickup of the party’s Expression of Interest form.

The delegation was led by Mallam Ibrahim Abdulkarim, the NDC governorship aspirant in Kaduna State, alongside other party stakeholders and supporters.

Sources within the party disclosed that the visit underscored growing consultations and strategic realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Obi’s loyalists intensifying engagement within the NDC structure.

Addressing party members and supporters at the secretariat, members of the delegation reportedly emphasized the need for unity, credible leadership, and a people-driven political movement capable of addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.

The delegation also recalled that NDC aspirants from across the country gathered in Abuja on Saturday during the NDC Aspirants Summit, where participants reportedly donated over ₦27 million towards the acquisition of Expression of Interest forms for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

According to insiders, the fundraising effort was symbolic of growing grassroots support within the party and among coalition supporters seeking a united political front ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The development has further fueled speculation over an emerging coalition involving opposition figures and reform-oriented political blocs ahead of the next presidential contest.
