The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Pete has resigned from the African Democratic Congress and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress, the NDC, alongside former state governor Rabu Kwankwaso.

Peter Obi says his decision was not due to personal grievances against party leaders including former Senate President David Mark. Joining the conversation is ambassador England Justin the convenor Nigeria needs Peter movement.

Good morning sir.

Thank you for joining the conversation. Excellent morning. Glad to have you with us. Can you talk to us about this move to the NDC?

Essentially what does it imply for your movement?

Ambassador Kingland Justin

First and foremost, I’m rating the move made, absolutely right, that is the best move he should have made because Peter Obi promised Nigerian that he will be in the ballot coming 2027 election.

His Excellency Peter Obi himself is a party and also a movement. He is the life of the party whichever party he enters. If you watch whatever He always say he always say he doesn’t like where there is trouble where there is crisis where there’s fraudulent and where there is transactional.

So whenever they find him trouble he lives immediately and as the life of the party, when life goes out of anything next thing is dead and that is what is happening he made a move he want to fulfill his promise.

He has people who have hope on him, those who doesn’t know where their next meal of tomorrow is coming from, those who are children and child of nobody that want to become somebody without knowing anybody, These are the people he want to make sure he fulfill the promise, because he said he’s going to contest, he must be in the ballot come 2027 and we all are waiting for him to be at the ballot so the move he make is to make sure he fulfill his promise like so you know interestingly about this party.

The Presenter

Senator Syaki Dixon had moved to this party a couple of months ago I think now or so the same senator Dixon has told politicians who are dissatisfied with their existing parties to come over to the NDC.

So if you had some of these politicians you say were giving trouble in the first place is it really the best option for Mr. Obi or do we wait till that happens?

Ambassador Kingland Justin

I don’t think there is any trouble or any problem in the party he went to. I think he made consultations and made the best move. If you read what he tweeted you can understand exactly what he was talking about.

He did not leave the party because of anybody. Not because of a mark but because of the crisis and the issue of the court. The people at the upper echelon doesn’t want him in the ballot and they know only the reason why they are pursuing only one man. So there is no problem in any party and if there will be anything coming up it will be obvious the world will know now that exactly what is supposed to be.

The Presenter

I do have to ask you over the course of the last two elections. He’s run on the platform of two different political parties. This is the well fourth party that he’s going to be a part of and he’s just a moment sir.

I want to finish the question. Now it has to be the question of whether of what this looks like for him because he has been a part of five political parties and he’s run for the same position on another political party.

Ambassador Kingland Justin

That’s exactly what I wanted to say. He is not the first person that has been moving out from one party to the other.

He has a mission and he has people who are at his neck. He is not desperate for changing party.

He’s not desperate to become the president. He is desperate to fix Nigeria. Everyone of you knows that the country is bleeding and we have only one man that will fix this country.

Presenter

Why is it only him?

Ambassador Kingland Justin

If we take him to move into 100 parties in order to fix Nigeria, we are with him.

That’s what it is. While the movement seems to be behind him, what sort of message do you think this to Nigerian voters?

I mean the voters are beyond his movement and that’s why I’m asking what is the message to the voters if he keeps moving from one as you say 100% that’s what I’m saying even if it is after party we are going to move with him. Nigerians are with him all right he has Nigerians with him.
